Unitor arc and gas welding equipment

Shipboard welding and cutting equipment

Unitor welding package for on-board repairs: the UWI-350MP multi-process rectifier (coated electrodes, TIG, air-carbon-arc gouging, oxy-arc cutting, wire welding with UWF-MP feeder, plasma cutting) and a gas central installation with one acetylene and two oxygen cylinders feeding outlet stations through flashback-protected regulators. The file has material specification, parts lists, drawings, data sheets, maintenance and operating instructions and type approvals.

Maintenance procedures

Starting gas welding/cutting

  1. Connect torch handle, blowpipe and hoses (2 × ¼", 10 m) to the outlet station. p. 78
  2. Slowly open cylinder valves, T-valves and closing valves for acetylene and oxygen. p. 78
  3. Set line pressures at the regulators (AC a little over 0.8 bar, O2 a little over 8 bar) and lock the knobs; leak-test every joint with spray. p. 78
  4. Open the outlet station valves; set torch oxygen then acetylene working pressure with the outlet regulators. p. 78
  5. Crack the torch oxygen valve, point the nozzle away from flammables, light and adjust the flame. p. 78

Stopping

  1. Close the torch acetylene valve first, then the oxygen valve; after work close the outlet station and cylinder valves. p. 78
