JOWA OIL-A TRIOSEP

Bilge water separator (OWS) with 15 ppm alarm

JOWA OIL-A TRIOSEP oily bilge water separator (MEPC 60(33)) consisting of three sequential stainless steel tanks: Tank 1 — gravity settler with oil level sensor CT01, Tanks 2 and 3 — coalescing filters with JOWA F200 activated carbon. After Tank 3, part of the flow goes to the 15 ppm alarm: upon exceedance, the pump stops, and the overboard discharge valve V7 closes. PLC control with display. Manual includes: technical data by size, installation, loading and replacement of filter material, operating principle, oil discharge, backwashing, start/stop, faults, maintenance, drawings, diagrams, and spare parts.

Maintenance procedures

Tank backwashing

  1. Wash before start and after operation, preferably with fresh water. Always start with Tank 3. p. 12
  2. Tank 3: turn handle V5 towards Tank 3, V11 — down, then open V8. Wash for 3–5 minutes. p. 12
  3. Tank 2: turn V5 towards Tank 2, V10 — down, then open V8. Wash for 3–5 minutes. p. 12
  4. Tank 1: turn V9 down, open V8, wash via V1. p. 12
If V1 is connected to sludge tank — do not wash longer than necessary

Start after installation or repair

  1. Load F200 carbon into Tanks 2 and 3. p. 13
  2. Fill pump with water to prevent dry running. p. 13
  3. Open all valves from bilge tank to separator and on discharge line. p. 13
  4. Wash Tanks 2 and 3, ensure carbon dust and particles are removed. p. 13
  5. Fill Tank 1 with water to cover oil level sensor rod. p. 13
  6. Turn on power — separator is ready for operation. p. 13

Normal operation

  1. Open valves as for start; fill tanks with short backwash. p. 13
  2. During washing, vent residual oil and air via cocks on top of each tank. p. 13
  3. Turn power switch to position “1”, wait a few minutes. p. 13
  4. Reset faults with red pushbutton-lamp. p. 13
  5. Turn S2 to position 1 (auto): display shows >>>run<<<, pump is running. p. 13

Stop after operation

  1. Turn S2 to position «0». p. 14
  2. Flush the entire system by filling the tanks with clean fresh water. p. 14
  3. Close all valves to prevent the separator from draining. p. 14
  4. Clean the alarm sensor and keep it filled with clean water. p. 14
  5. Leave the power switch in position «1». p. 14

Replace filter material

  1. Disconnect power, shut off air and water supply. p. 9
  2. Open manual valves V12, V13 and drain water from filter tanks. p. 9
  3. Open top and bottom hatches, remove spent carbon. p. 9
  4. Thoroughly clean tanks of oil and dirt using a degreaser (e.g. JOWA MP 80). p. 9
  5. Fill with new carbon through top hatches to 60–70 % of volume (10–15 cm below top grids). p. 9
Fill carefully to avoid breaking the grids inside the tanks
  6. Flush tanks 2 and 3 to remove carbon dust before operation. p. 13
